WOMEN IN MANUFACTURING – SPOTLIGHT ADDITION
Carey Manufacturing welcomed visitors from the CT Center for Advanced Technology. They have been promoting young women in manufacturing and chose Carey as a focal point for this month. After their visit, here is a statement posted on the CCAT LinkedIn page: “Carey Manufacturing Inc. is known in the industry for “changing the way you think of hardware.” After visiting their Cromwell office today, we believe they are also changing the way you’ll think of inspiring your #manufacturing workforce!
Carey, the producer of catches, latches, and handles, represents CCAT’s Advanced Manufacturing Employer Partnership (AMEP). They are one of our most valued partners and have done an incredible job in nurturing the future #workforce and developing their employees to be industry ambassadors. We talked about workplace culture, flexibility, women in manufacturing… We look forward to future conversations and collaborations!” In addition, CCAT Education & Workforce Specialist Millie Hemming said, “Our tour, conversation and witness of Carey Manufacturing Inc. culture was amazing! You are a shining example of how manufacturing not only creates vital products, but invests in building people’s lives. Thank you to all we spoke with and shared their work stories with us.”
The Office of Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, Office of Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection launched their step-by-step informational guide to pursuing a career in the skilled trades. At the event, our very own Millie Ramirez, spoke to a group of attendees about her career path and aspirations. Afterwards she was approached by a group of attendees and answered questions. Congrats on your event Millie, we are proud to have you representing Carey and our industry!
